Shadow
Sombra
Shadow is the place where love has not yet arrived.
Every soul carries hidden rooms. Some locked by shame, others by grief, fear, anger, or feelings of unworthiness. We call these forgotten places our shadow, yet they never stop waiting for us.
When this card appears, it invites you to turn toward yourself with tenderness, especially the places you have learned to judge, hide, or reject. Consider what might become possible if you met your own wounds with curiosity rather than condemnation.
Healing begins the moment you stop asking, “How do I get rid of this?” and begin asking, “What part of me has been waiting all this time to be understood?”
You do not need to be fixed, nor does your shadow need to be defeated. The parts of yourself you struggle to accept are still part of your whole. Welcome them home. Meet them with the kindness you might offer someone you love. Sometimes what we call our brokenness is simply a part of ourselves that has been waiting a very long time to be met with tenderness.
Reflection Practice
Place a hand over your heart. Think of a part of yourself you usually criticize or avoid. Without trying to change it, ask simply, What are you protecting? What do you need from me today? Listen without judgment.
Journal Prompt
- How would my life change if I met myself with compassion instead of criticism?
Affirmation
Every part of me belongs. Every part of me is worthy of love.
