Surrender
Rendición
The earth has been carrying your weight long before you learned to carry the world.
Surrender is mistaken for defeat; white flags on battle lines, a towel thrown in.
Yet the body knows another kind of surrender. Every night, you trust sleep. Every exhale is a quiet release. Every moment of trust begins with a risk. These too are forms of surrender, yet they quite literally sustain life and make us richer for it.
This card invites you to find the wisdom in surrender. Notice how much effort you spend holding yourself up, even when nothing is asking you to. Let yourself be supported, physically and otherwise. What are you still carrying after it has become safe to set it down? Break the habit of resistance for resistance sake. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is stop carrying what life is already holding.
Reflection Practice
Lie comfortably on the floor for five or ten minutes. Notice where your body is still working to hold itself up. Instead of trying to relax, simply let yourself be supported. Before you rise, ask: What have I been carrying that no longer needs my effort?
Journal Prompt
- What am I still carrying after it has become safe to set it down?
Affirmation
I loosen my grip and allow myself to be held.
