Anchor (Ancla), card 62 — a Rest card from the Flower & Song Oracle

Anchor

Ancla

Know what holds you fast.

An anchor is temporary. It holds a ship in harbor to keep a current from carrying it out to sea. High waves and harsh winds may buffet it about, but an anchored vessel can remain steady even in rough waters.

In life, too, we need anchors. Relationships that hold steady, as beliefs ruckus us and events throw us off course.

This card invites you to remember what holds you. A belief, a practice, a ritual, or loved one who keeps us from going adrift. Consider the people, places, practices, values, and memories that have consistently steadied you. What anchors have you neglected? Choose one and return to it, even briefly. Notice what happens when you reconnect with something that has helped hold you before.

You cannot control every wave, but you can choose what keeps you fixed when seas get uncertain.

Reflection Practice

Make a list of five things that consistently steady you: a person, a place, a practice, a value, or a memory. Choose one and spend a few moments reconnecting with it today. Notice how your body responds.

Journal Prompt

  • What anchors have I neglected?
