Peace
Paz
Nothing is missing from this moment.
We imagine peace as something to be accomplished. A state of being on the other side of perfect circumstance. When I reach this goal, get that job, land a promotion, or find the ideal place, then, only then, peace.
But peace begins when we stop arguing with the present accepting the moment as it is now. Sometimes this just means noticing what is already holding us: the ground beneath our feet, the chair supporting our weight, the breath moving through us, the people who have stayed, the ordinary structures that shelter our lives. Before asking life to become something else, we can pause long enough to recognize what is already here.
This card invites you to soften your resistance to what is and discover the peace found there. Where do you postpone peace until life becomes different? Notice what is supporting you now, and allow yourself, for a moment, to be held by what already exists.
Reflection Practice
Before going to sleep, notice five things already supporting you: the mattress beneath you, the blanket around you, the rhythm of your breath, the darkness, the roof above. Rest for a moment in the quiet truth that much of life is already holding you.
Journal Prompt
- Where do I postpone peace until life becomes different?
Affirmation
